Do I need to get a masters in marketing?
I am currently getting my bachelor's degree - my major is anthropology and my minor is psychology. I am interested in a career in marketing, marketing research mainly. Do I need to get my masters in marketing or will I be able to get a job with my bachelors, even though it is not in marketing; however, it does involve understanding humans? Thanks...

I'm currently studying for the GMAT, which is the entrance exam for getting into MBA/marketing programs.. and I can tell you from a liberal arts background (I have a BFA in graphic design), a MBA will -really- help you if you want to pursue a marketing career. Especially if you studied something that was non-business related, a MBA program will give you the core foundation classes you need, as well as other concentrations you want to go after (ie: finance, marketing). Otherwise I'm pretty sure i wouldn't be able to go after the jobs I've been eyeing. You probably should do some research, see if it's really want b/c it's a lot of money and time invested in it and go from there. Good luck!

Depending on what career you're interested in, a Masters degree could be worth the money. If you already have a career, look into tuition reimbursement through your employer. If you're looking into programs that will advance your skills as an employee, your company will value that as an investment. Generally speaking, a Masters degree usually equates to a higher salary and a higher 'level' of employment. "According to the U.S. Department of Labor, average weekly salary for a masters degree holder is $1,129, almost $200 more than a bachelors degree holder" Check out the link below for more info on master's degrees

I work for a company in the area of Marketing, Communications and Fulfillment. What is a good pay rate
I work for a company in the area of Marketing, Communications and Fulfillment. What is a good pay rate?
I am currently making 10.50 per hour with full benifits and well I've been looking at the averge rate and I'm way below. But I live in SC. How likely is it that I will get a raise, without having to ask for it? I'm one month away from my BS in Work force Education and I would like to stay employed with this complete at least until I complete my Masters in Business and Marketing. Is it wrong for me to request a raise. I've been here for six months and well I've gotten the normal 90 day increase of .25cents. I like what I'm doing I just think the pay should be more. I have a child to think of and well I'm fitting the bill for my education not my employeer. HLP!

$14-$16 is a good starting pay

You can get an MBA with a marketing concentration or you can get a masters in science in marketing. Most people get an MBA. You choose your concentration based upon your career. If you are still in school or just beginning your career - think about why you are getting your degree. A lot of firms have mgmt training programs and afterwards you are expected to go into an MBA program. They have minimum levels of experience required for candidates with MBAs. If you don't have any experience and you finish your degree - you might not be able to get in the door because of your degree. They aren't allowed to hire MBAs for lower level jobs. A lot of wallstreet firms are that way. Do some research -- go out to some firms where you would like to work and see what opportunities exist for MBAs with and without experience. Next question - what do you want to do with your degree? What was your undergrad degree? Do you want to design product marketing, pitch the products or do sales? Sales is the largest area and you can sell products or work on client relationships. Food for thought. Attached is a link to morgan stanley's page for undergrad and graduate students.

Masters Degree in Business Marketing
Masters Degree in Business Marketing?
I just graduated with my BSBM and am seriously thinking about pursuing a MBA. I donĂ¢€™t know what to expect, my last program was based around team work and presentations. I did hear however that some programs require you to do extensive paper writing is that true? I have to say that the longest paper that I wrote was about 10,000 words long. Can some one with an MBA tell me what your experiences has been?

Most MBA programs are even more focused on teamwork, but papers are likely. I still wouldn't call it extensive, though, compared to many other graduate degrees.
