Do I need to get a masters in marketing?
I am currently getting my bachelor's degree - my major is anthropology and my minor is psychology. I am interested in a career in marketing, marketing research mainly. Do I need to get my masters in marketing or will I be able to get a job with my bachelors, even though it is not in marketing; however, it does involve understanding humans? Thanks...

You can do some research to find out the jobs that you will be qualified for. This is a government site that has out-look and education requirements and internships. Good luck!!

The best thing would be to ask colleagues who they think is good and contact them yourself.

Consult the Official MBA Guide. It's a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. It allows you to search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, etc), and by listing your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. Schools report their accreditation status, tuition cost, number of students, class sizes, program length, and a lot of other data. Schools provide data on entrance requirements, program costs, program characteristics, and much more. You can use the Guide to contact schools of your choice, examine their data, visit their web site, and send them pre applications. You can see lists of top 40 schools ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria. It's the best service available at http://officialmbaguide.org.

master degrees on business

There is a Master's of Marketing Research (MMR), Master's of Science in Marketing Research (MSMR), Master's of Science in Marketing Analysis (MSMA), and the good 'ole MBA with a concentration in marketing. The first three are pretty much the same (except for the name, of course) and focus on blending marketing research theory with real world applications, while the MBA is a general business degree.

With a BS in Marketing what Masters would I apply to if i wanted to do Fashion Retail
With a BS in Marketing what Masters would I apply to if i wanted to do Fashion Retail?
I am currently graduating with a BS in Marketing and would like to attend grad school for my masters. I want to go into a field that has to do with Fashion Merchandising or Retail Marketing but can not figure out what master's program I should apply for.

I recommend you try getting into the industry right now. With a masters, you would become over-qualified for an entry level job, and without being in the industry, it is unlikely that you can start with a mid-career position in the industry with a masters degree. So start now, and get an internship in the industry. This will not be easy, and it would be hard, dirty work. Hopefully somebody will notice you and give you a break. If you can do well, you'll move up the ladder. If you ever feel that you're in a situation where a masters degree will give you a promotion or education required for a certain job, then only go for it.

i believe you can go straight into a masters, so you will probably have to do a 4 year masters course.
2
Yes. You could get Masters in marketing with out BA in marketing.
3
You definitely would not need to start from scratch, but you most likely will need to take some prerequisites for the graduate courses and even admission.
4
Yes, you can. You don't need to start from scratch, but it would probably be a good idea to take a couple of undergrad courses in marketing--even if they're online. I'm getting an MBA after getting degrees in completely different fields and having ZERO business background. I took a beginning accounting class, and I got a handful of review books (like Schaum's Outlines) to look at, so I had half a clue. Good luck!

Yes, you can earn a Master's in marketing, advertising, or any other business field without having a Bachelor's in business. In order to enroll in business school, you may have to take the GMAT (depending on which school you go to). The GMAT tests your aptitude in a variety of subjects related to business. Since your Bachelor's degree is in a totally different subject, you may want to take some business courses to prepare yourself for the GMAT. (There are also services like the Princeton Review or Kaplan that offer GMAT prep courses). Taking these courses may also help prepare you for your future studies.

Ask your financial aid adviser at your college, they should be able to answer all your questions :) !!!!
2
it totally depends. first i would definitely ask ur college and see if they'll let you do it. that said ive found that business/marketing grad schools generally don't care what your background is as long as you've got a bachelor's in something. ex. my dad went to business grad school after receiving a bachelor's in molecular biology. he didn't even minor in business or marketing. hope this helps.

It would be smart for you to get a job and some experience before your masters..............If you have a masters and no experience.............how does..............."want fries with that".........sound?
2
the big future is international banker!
3
I agree, you need experience first. Then up your potential with a masters. And figure out if you really WANT to be in that industry before you spend another couple of years and 15k.
4
Marketing is good enough. don't have to be a master in international. As the above said, i think it is much better for you to gain some experience beforehand. I got a site which might be suitable for you, you might want to check it out. It is about online marketing. http://www.internetmarketing-howto-videos.com/
